OPEN CALL FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS
Theme: Repair as a Practice of Seeing
The Somali Arts Foundation (SAF) invites photographers to submit work for an upcoming group photography exhibition exploring the theme of repair.
Repair is not only about fixing what is broken. It can also mean care, renewal, memory, responsibility, survival, rebuilding, tending, returning, and imagining what is still possible.
Through photography, this exhibition asks:
What does repair look like?
What needs to be repaired?
Who is already doing the work of repair?
How can images help us see differently?
We are looking for photography that moves beyond crisis or spectacle, and instead looks closely at everyday acts of care, memory, public life, home, place, cultural continuity, family histories, landscapes, rituals, archives, and the quiet labour of survival.
The open call is open to photographers globally, with special priority given to Somali photographers and Global Majority photographers.
Submission requirements:
Your artist biography, maximum 150 words
A short statement on the work, maximum 300 words
5-10 images
Image details, including title, year, location and caption where relevant
Contact details
Website or social media link, optional
Submission deadline: June 14, 2026
Exhibition dates: 1 July - 30 September 2026
Location: SAF House, Mogadishu, Somalia
Email submissions to: info@somaliartsfoundation.org
Email subject line: Photography Open Call - Repair as a Practice of Seeing
